About

Our Mission

The Govans Farmers Market exists to create a vibrant, inclusive space that expands access to healthy food, supports local entrepreneurs, and brings neighbors together in the heart of Baltimore’s historic York Road corridor.

Why Our Market Matters

From the Northern Parkway to 39th Street along York Road, you’ll find five fast food chains, eight convenience stores, 15 carry-outs (including 5 liquor stores), and zero grocery stores. That means no access to fresh, affordable produce in our neighborhood.

Our market exists to change that. We’re proud to be a true farmers market—bringing in local farmers every week to offer fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables that are grown close to home. This market is about health, community, and making good food available to everyone.

Community Resource Area

We offer a dedicated space at the market for organizations to connect with residents and share helpful information, services, and opportunities. It’s a way to build community while providing access to vital resources beyond food.

  • Free space for local organizations to share info with shoppers

  • Focus on youth programs, health and wellness, food assistance, and community services

  • Rotating participation based on weekly themes or special events

  • Opportunities for interactive tabling, giveaways, and community engagement

  • Promotes awareness and access to support services in the Govans area
