  • Free parking is available during market hours in the parking lot of 5104 York Road. 

  • Pets are not allowed at the Farmers’ Market (per Baltimore City Health Department Rules and Regulations), and it is a Baltimore City Health Department ticketable offense of up to $1,000.00.

  • Govans Farmers Market is a smoke-free zone. We are located on the campus of Loyola University Maryland – which is a Smoke Free Campus as of July 1, 2019.

Payment Programs We Accept

SNAP/EBT

We accept SNAP (Food Stamps/Independence Card) at all of our markets in exchange for a dollar match of tokens to be spent at the Market. 

FMNP

Once FMNP/SFMNP (Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program) checks cards are distributed for the season, participants can spend them at our produce stands and will receive matching tokens to purchase even more produce. 

GEDCO CARES

These Farmers Market Coupons serve residents in zip codes 21210, 21212, 21218, and 21239 (from the city line to 33rd Street). To see if you’re eligible, visit CARES at 5502 York Road (behind St. Mary’s Church) or call 410-532-2273.

Maryland Market Money

If you use SNAP, you can get up to $10 in extra funds each market day to spend on fresh, local produce through our Maryland Market Money program.

E-WIC

Some produce vendors accept E-WIC (Electronic Women, Infants, and Children checks). Please come to the finance table for the latest information about where you can use this form of payment.

How the Token System Works

Govans Farmers Market uses a color-coded token system to make it easy for customers to shop using different forms of payment, including credit cards, EBT/SNAP, and nutrition benefits.

  • Given in exchange for credit/debit card payments
  • Can be used to buy anything at the market
  • Vendors give cash change for red tokens
  • Given in exchange for EBT/SNAP cards
  • Used for eligible food items only (no hot/prepared foods)
  • No change is given for green wooden tokens
  • Bonus tokens for EBT/SNAP, FMNP, or eWIC customers
  • Customers receive up to $10 extra in green plastic tokens per market day
  • Can be used to buy any eligible food item, just like green wooden tokens
  • No change is given
  • Not tokens, but accepted by farmers
  • Used for fresh produce, herbs, and honey
  • Eligible for $10 in green plastic bonus tokens
  • Must be used in full (no change)
